Altius came into existence as Vermont’s legal cannabis market was just opening its doors. There was no infrastructure. No roadmap. No playbook. What there was, was possibility — and a lot of hard work ahead.
Brian and Tim spent countless hours and hundreds of thousands of miles — literally, inside the state of Vermont — knocking on doors, forging relationships, visiting farms and production facilities, vetting the people and the products. Not as executives. As partners. Spreading the culture, earning trust, and becoming the connective tissue this industry needs to not just survive, but genuinely thrive.

Brian Fitzgerald
Brian has built a career on a simple belief: the right people, in the right culture, can do anything. Years of executive consulting across industries gave him a rare ability to see how organizations work — and how they could work better.
That lens brought him to cannabis, where he spent 8 years embedded with some of the most dynamic teams in the business. What he saw convinced him there was a better model — one where the distributor serves the producer, not the other way around.
When Brian relocated his family to Vermont during the pandemic, it was more than a change of scenery. It was the moment to build what he’d long believed was possible — a better model for Vermont’s independent producers.
Tim Reiter
Tim is the kind of person who reads a complicated situation and immediately starts thinking about how to make it better. A career’s worth of doing exactly that — across logistics, hospitality, technology, and experiential marketing — has made him one of the more unusually equipped operators you’ll find anywhere.
He’s developed global supply chain frameworks, managed snowmaking installations on multiple continents, led teams of 300 across extreme conditions, and rebuilt how a major global brand reaches people who felt left out. The industries are different. The approach is the same: lead with people, execute with precision.
Tim has called Vermont home for nearly 30 years and is proud to raise his young family here. When the cannabis market opened, it presented real problems to solve, good people to do it with, and something worth building together.
